I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban

This is the story of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl who stood up for the right to education under the threat of the Taliban. I read this book when I was in middle school and it had a profound impact on me and made me think for many days. It made me realize that the basic education that we take for granted is so hard to come by in many parts of the world. I came to appreciate the privilege I have had to have easy access to education and be able to make my choices. Malala’s courage, maturity, and determination at her young age made me admire her a lot and also motivated me to speak up in life.
